  You might think of Ellen’s as just the local university pub but there’s more to Ellen’s than that. If you’re a teacher living on a tight budget or you have extensive travel plans and you need to save, Ellen’s is probably a good place for you. They have a large western menu to choose from and everything is very reasonably priced with big portions. All day breakfasts are going for 25 RMB+, Omelettes start at 15 RMB, burgers and sandwiches start at 16 RMB and pastas go from 20 -25 RMB. Ellen’s also has the best bar price for a Tsingtao beer in town. One 500ml bottle is 10 RMB. All in all I was very satisfied with Ellen’s. They have the best deals on western style food that I’ve seen in Hangzhou. If you have a hankering for a taste of anything a bit western, Ellen’s is the right choice at the right price.

  Pros:

  -          Prices can’t be beat

  -          Atmosphere is cool if you’re into the bohemian look

  -          Big western food menu

   

  Cons:

  -          The servers can never remember who ordered what

  -          A tad on the dirty side, especially the washroom

  -          Hard to find if it’s your first time
